Lose a friend ... but no sweet talk

The more that i continue to live in the Corporate world, the more I see people who are not capable of saying things straight from the heart. People these days overly criticise only cos they want to do it (read office colleagues and the like). Worse still is the fact that most of this happens behind your back, so you never get to really know this until a friend of yours who has heard the story, brings it up to you.

Amongst friends, its very uncommon these days to honestly criticise a person. No one wants to be the Bad Guy, every one speaks sweet stuff when you are around, but talk horifically about you when u aint. Well my philosophy in life is totally different, I talk my heart out, tell people what I think is right .. I may be wrong but atleast I dont have the guilt of not telling someone what I feel is right.

I encourage one and all to accept this as a philosophy, never mind loosing a friend, its sure easier than having a put on relationship with someone who is faltering.

Happy Thinking ;)

Airport Modernization - Whats the fuss ??

Second day after the Union Ministry came out with their decision to privatize / modernize Airports and there is so much hungama happening.  So many people troubled by the protests that are happening at almost all the airports in India.  I heard that the major reason for all this protest is the announcement of about 60% of the people being retained post modernization.

Most country airports have reached such a level that they have online webpages.  A trip to any Indian airport on the contrary, shows how badly equipped and prehistoric they are in their approach to things even in this time and age.  To add to this, the politicians over the years, in a move to have a bigger vote bank, have had their way, employing more people than actually required.  The irony is that not too many of these extra dudes actually turn out excellent work, behave pretty much in the chalta hai attitude.

The Government initiative to modernize airports is a step in the right direction, considering that India is moving towards being a super power and infrastructure is a key factor in development of a county.

Paheli doesn’t make it to the Oscars

Another conspiracy theory is ripe with the news that Paheli is not on the nominations for the Oscar.  I have one simple question before that, was it meant to be on the nominations list ? Another set of hyperenthu guys who overestimated the quality of the movie.  Media ka kya hai … news mila aur chaap diya !! Such an atrocious movie … fact that it got into the running itself shows the lack of any other movie representation from India

So next time when someone walks up and says, Paheli ko Oscar nomination nahin mila … ask them to get a life, may be they can start by watching the movie.

Still waiting for my Creative Zen M.

Incidentally the baby has not yet been released in India.  There was a review at Techtree.com about the thingie … cant wait for it to be released in India.  May be I will ask out for someone to pick it up for me (Friends abroad .. calling out to all of you)

Just kidding anyways … just that I am so excited about the fact that I can buy this one.  Specially since I had kept an internal goal for myself before I could buy it and now that has come thru.  For those who haven’t been reading my blog often, I cleared my Part I of Chartered Accountancy. I had told myself that I would buy myself the Creative Zen M when I clear the CA Inter.

India go down !!

Another toothless display of batting by India and a comprehensive loss to Pakistan, yet again the idea that we can’t win a match at Karachi comes to the fore.  Was walking into our Office Cafeteria, Dravid’s interview and he says the new ball did the trick … well hello ~ this is International Cricket, were you walking in thinking that the Pakistanis would come with an old ball to let you get the runs !!

In the previous matches, we piled on the runs when it dint even matter, but today the Indians were expected to do much more than fold up like this.  Chasing a huge total is difficult agreed, but give it a try, a fight … that’s all that is expected.

And the Pakistanis could do much better than preparing pitches that were so dull and dry that a three match series was made into a one match series.  They should have been a wee bit more competitive.  Blaming the weather for the flat pitches is bullshit and was more an act in defense than anything else.

The scene now shifts to the One dayers, hoping that the Indian batsmen click there and pile on the runs !!

Cheers
